My Past
Hello, my name is Merijn Verhaak. I am from Wierden, the Netherlands. I grew up with a creative background, my mom is a goldsmith and because of that I had access to more creative endeavors. My passion is music & competing, I like challenging myself and being ambitious. Empathy is ingrained in my core.
My past portfolio's I've given names to how I would describe my development throughout the year. Which are "Spring Cleaning", and "Room for Growth". I'd like to name this one "Beyond and Within", so far I have been treating this year as preparation and reflecting on what's next after my FBP. Last year was a great year in my development, and I am starting to bear the fruits of my work now.
When I look back on the work that I’m truly proud of from year 1 and 2, it’s interesting for different reasons. Creative Programming is the first time I made something that was aesthetically very beautiful while learning java and coding.A mix of T&R and C&A. CBL P3 was a combination of interaction design, social design, and complex systems, and making complex systems through a physical digital interface. So, C&A, U&S, T&R, MD&C. (Say Otun et al., 2025)
Or really pinpointing a well-established but often overlooked problem in e-waste for my multidisciplinary CBL. Which had a lot of system thinking and sustainability in mind. There are some others, but the main development is how much more impact has started to matter for me. It has reflected well on how I define my vision, and finding direction in my studies.
